Type 90 T90 Japanese helmets available for collectors
On this page you will also find some authentic WW2 Japanese helmets when available. At the beginning of WW2, Japan was already in conflict with China since 1937. Thanks to this the Japanese army was ready for the war, well armed and well equipped. The Type 90 Helmet (TETSU-BO) of the Japanese army is a militaria item from 1930s and 1940s, 90 means 1930 in the Japanese calendar. Original Japanese helmets can be recognized thanks to their internal painting of the manufacture "KOBE SEIKO" engraved with a rhombus containing the size : for example, an "S" as well as the size character "小" for small sizes. They have a cotton chinstrap with a width of 23mm before 1943. The weight of the Japanese T90 helmet goes from 1800g to 1200g in the 1930s and 1900g in 1937. The headdress is in leather and recalls the German helmets of 1916.
